The introvert’s ability to listen and truly empathize with others makes us good entrepreneurs. How so? Well, the best way to improve a product or service is to sit down with your customers and have a conversation, to gain an understanding what is and isn’t working and respond accordingly. In fact, that is how Interact Quiz Builder became the user-friendly platform it is today.

Josh Haynam grew up poor in Central Valley during the height of the recession. Inspired to do something different to earn an income, he started his own business installing lawns at the age of fifteen. Though the work was difficult, he loved the act of creating something out of nothing, and Josh’s entrepreneurial spirit was born.  In college Josh joined forces with a friend experienced in web design, and they started a business building websites. When a client asked them to create a quiz for lead generation and it realized a remarkable 75% conversion rate, Josh knew they were on to something.

Interact Quiz Builder was founded in January of 2014 and four years later, the tool is used by more than 30,000 businesses including The American Red Cross, Tony Robbins, and Forbes. Today Josh shares the evolution of Interact Quiz Builder, explaining its subscription model and how emotional intelligence and active listening led to product improvement. He discusses his particular challenge as an empathic introvert who wants to make everyone happy—in a world where that’s just not possible. Listen in for Josh’s advice around learning from people who are ‘a few steps ahead’ on the path you want to take.
